FUNCTIONAL LITERACY IN 40 HOURS
Alphabetization is the key element for economic and social development. It empowers people to lead an independent life and brings about fundamental changes in diverse areas of their everyday life.
The innovative learning method developed by TATA Consultancy Services, a software company in India, has high potential to achieve a breakthrough in the alphabetization of the Burkinabe. The CBFL (Computer Based Functional Literacy) method consists of a computer-based multimedia learning system that teaches an uneducated person to read in a record time of 40 hours. The programme has already shown great success in India. Several hundred literacy centers that follow the CBFL method have been created and transformed thousands of illiterate people into literate ones.
